COACH BOB ROESKY (1919-2005)

CYO Basketball Coach (1959-2003)

St. Joseph Parish's CYO Invitational Basketball Tournament is named in memory of our long-time eighth grade boys basketball coach, Mr. Bob Roesky. Mr. Roesky passed away on January 20, 2005.

Coach Roesky schooled our CYO teams in the art of playing basketball for 44 years. In 1959, Jack Wakefield, one of the original founders of the CYO program at our parish, recruited Mr. Roesky to coach all of the boys' teams - grades 6, 7 and 8. In the intervening four-plus decades, Coach Roesky coached our teams in several diocesan championships, dozens of league and tournament championships, and thousands of CYO games and practices.

In naming our tournament in memory to Coach Roesky, we acknowledge his commitment to the CYO philosophy of promoting sportsmanship and building character in our young people. He devoted countless hours to the athletic and moral success of the youth in our parish, even though he himself is not a Catholic.

Please join us in remembering Coach Roesky for his contributions to our CYO Basketball program by supporting all of the fine young people who participate in the Bob Roesky - St. Joseph CYO Basketball Tournament.
