PSR - Sunday School 2017-2018

Welcome to our Parish School of Religion (PSR) -Sunday School Program for the 2017-2018 school year!  We have great hopes for the year ahead and we are delighted that you and your children are part of our Sunday School program. We look forward to discovering together what the year will hold.

All PSR classes, Preschool through Grade 8 will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45 am.

We believe that you, as parents, are the primary educators of your children, and the greatest influence of all on them.  Our purpose is to support and assist you in your efforts to cultivate a love of Jesus in your children, to instill living Gospel values in daily life, and to promote Catholic practices and beliefs.  Our partnership is an important one as we work together in the Catholic formation of your children.

We begin with brand new hopes for all that the year ahead can hold.  Our heartfelt wish is to work in partnership with you so that we can provide the best religious education experience possible for your children.  It is our privilege to serve the children and families of St. Joseph as we gather each week in Christian community.  We come to the table in joy, service, and love!

Family Activity Sundays

Something new is coming to PSR this year!

Students in grades 6-8 will have the awesome opportunity to participate in the EDGE program. Parents will be getting more information soon! Younger students will have the opportunity to participate in an activity that brings our PSR families together and combines a teaching with a faith-connected activity. Family Activity Sundays will be offered three times this year to students in Preschool through Grade 5 from 9:30-10:45 am in the Old Gym. Of course, families with students in grades 6-8 may include their older children if they desire.

Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation through which candidates become full members of the Christian community.  Sacramental preparation takes place during the eighth grade year as students grow from knowing their faith to living it.  Prayer, worship and service are elements students explore as their response to the presence of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is for people interested in joining the Catholic Church or for Catholics who want to strengthen their understanding of their faith and the teachings of the church.  Team members greet candidates, lead small group discussions, and lead prayer sessions.  RCIA meets on Sunday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:45pm from October to Easter.

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Children is part of RCIA.  Team members are needed to instruct children in grades 3-9 in small groups about God's love, Catholic beliefs, prayer and church membership.  RCIC is scheduled as needed.
