Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts
Through participation in meetings and outings, boys 6-11 years of age learn citizenship, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. Scout troops welcome adults in leadership and support roles.
Catholic Youth Organization
The St. Joseph CYO provides a supervised program for all Catholic children grades 4-8 in Avon Lake. The sports include football, cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track and field, cross country, and wrestling. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month (except July) at 7:30PM and all are welcome to participate and volunteer.
Members of the Finance Council advise the pastor regarding the physical and financial matters of the parish. They offer suggestions and recommendations regarding the funding of parish ministries through the preparation of the parish and school budget. The finance council meets the forth Monday of the month at 7:00pm. Each member serves a three year term.
The St. Joseph Garden Club is an informal group of parishioners who help to beautify the parish grounds. They meet as a group on Wednesdays at 6:30PM from spring through late fall or work. For those who cannot meet on Wednesdays, assignments to an area can be made and maintained at one's convenience.
Girl Scouts and Brownies are dedicated to helping all girls build character and gain skills for success in the real world. In an accepting and nurturing environment with committed adult volunteers, girls develop strong values and leadership skills.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal service organization of men founded under the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. Applications are taken and degrees are given throughout the year.
The Ladies' Guild offers spiritual, social, and service activities to the women of the parish and provides for some of the liturgical needs of the parish. Some activities include hosting Hospitality Sundays, the Strawberry Card Party, service to the school lunch program and visits to shut-ins. New members are always welcome.
Members of the Pastoral Council advise the pastor regarding the overall spiritual life of the parish community. They offer suggestions and recommendations about programs and activities that the parish is engaged in as well as new initiatives for the betterment of the Parish family. Council members are appointed for three year terms. Meetings occur on the second Monday of every month at 7:00pm.
St. Joseph Youth Ministry is for area high school students interested in developing a teen community that provides opportunities for social interaction and meaningful participation in the life of the Church and civic community. Programs and events are planned and executed by teens with the help of adult supervisors.
St. Vincent DePaul Society
The St. Joseph branch of the St. Vincent DePaul Society is a local chapter of the worldwide organization. The group helps those in need living with the boundaries of Avon/Avon Lake with food, clothing, utility bills, and medicines. This ministry has something for everyone who wants to help the needy at any commitment level.
The Stewardship Committee is responsible for developing stewardship as a way of life at St. Joseph. They evaluate the Stewardship efforts of the parish, assist with the Stewardship Renewal, and follow up with leaders on ministry participation. Meetings occur on the third Monday of every month at 7:00pm and all are welcome to attend.
