Saint Paul Book Study (A Note from Fr. Ron)

Hello Fellow St. Paul Pilgrims,

The book study begins this upcoming Monday (September 9) or Tuesday (September 10).

Monday’s group will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Carpenter Room. One can find the room by entering through the Preschool door in the south parking lot, or by walking from the Gathering Area and through the Social Hall.

Tuesday’s group will be meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Teacher’s Lounge. The room is one of the classrooms in the same hallway as the Carpenter Room. Enter the security doors and walk (west) down the hall past the restrooms. The Teacher’s Lounge will be on your left. There is a school open house on the first evening, so there will be a lot of cars and people. I will be around to help give directions.

After speaking with the two group leaders, we have come up with this course outline:

  • Week 1 - Introduction to Paul with an overview of his missionary journeys.

    • This would include more details but still an overview of his 1st missionary journey (Chapters 1-6)

      • Note: see pages 8-9 for an indecipherable map of all journeys, as well as the following pages:

        • Page 69 for 1st journey

        • Page 125 for 2nd journey

        • Page 183 for 3rd journey

The following 4 weeks we will discuss Paul's 2nd and 3rd missionary journeys in Greece:

  • Week 2 - Macedonia - Phillipi and Thessalonica (Chapter 7)

  • Week 3 - Athens (Chapter 8)

  • Week 4 - Corinth (Chapter 9)

  • Week 5 - Ephesus (Chapter 10)

  • Week 6 - Overview of Paul's Final trip to Rome (Chapters 11-14) and other interesting information. See pages 227 & 239 for a map of his trip to Rome.

Chapters 7 through 10, which includes the cities on the pilgrimage, will be studied in most detail while the rest of the book will be referenced.

A Zoom link for both meetings will be posted on Monday.

I am getting excited! I hope you are too. Fr. Ron
