What Your Summer Parish Internship Will Look Like:

  • A summer of hands-on Church ministry:
You’ll serve at a Catholic parish and support a variety of ministries, gaining a behind-the-scenes look at how parish life really works.

  • Dates & time commitment:

    • Internship runs June 1 – August 9, 2026

    • About 24 hours per week, designed to be meaningful, structured, and balanced.

  • A “generalist” experience:
Rather than being locked into one role, you’ll help with many aspects of parish life—liturgy, pastoral work, administration, outreach, and more—so you can explore where your gifts might fit in Church service.

  • Mentorship & accompaniment:
You’ll meet one-on-one weekly with a priest or parish staff member for guidance, reflection, and support throughout the summer.

  • Formation beyond the parish:
You’ll attend two overnight retreats with fellow interns for prayer, reflection, and community:

    • June 9–11

    • July 14–16
(You won’t have parish responsibilities during those retreat times.)

  • Built-in rhythm and flexibility:

    • No parish work on Wednesdays, allowing time for formation, rest, or other program commitments.

    • Each parish will aim to provide a clear weekly plan so you know what to expect.

  • Community with other interns:

    • Many interns will be placed in pairs, so you may serve alongside another intern.

    • You’ll also connect with interns from other parishes during shared events and visits.

  • All expenses covered:
Your salary and program costs are fully covered by the Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Institute—no fundraising required.

  • A supportive work environment:
Your parish will provide a workspace and staff support so you can focus on learning, serving, and growing.

  • Discernment-friendly:
This internship is especially designed for young people open to discerning a future in service to the Church, whether professionally or as a long-term vocation.

Applications are due by Friday, March 13.
